Travel to Canada

What is Travel to Canada?

Traveling in Canada involves short-term trips for tourism, family gatherings, or business activities. Depending on their nationality, visitors are required to apply for either a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa – TRV) or an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization).

How Traveling to Canada Works?

  • Visitors need to meet basic entry requirements and demonstrate temporary intent — they are not immigrating. You must show you’ll leave Canada at the end of your stay.

  • TRV (Visitor Visa) – Required for most countries.

  • eTA – Required for visa-exempt countries when flying to Canada.

  • Super Visa – For parents/grandparents of Canadian citizens/PRs, allows up to 5-year stays.

Visitor Visa Highlights

  • Usually valid for a maximum of 6 months for each visit.

  • You might be required to return flight tickets, an itinerary, and evidence of sufficient funds.

  • Visitors are not permitted to work or study without proper authorization.
